I have only seen Ann Pope Washington spelled as ANN. The only reference I
have to ANN or ANNE Quisenberry is John Quisenberry's will from the
Westmoreland County Will book-it is spelled ANN. However, I am not sure the
spelling is relevant-
Nathaniel Pope arrived in St. Mary's MD in 1639, he was married to Lucy. He
moved to VA (Northumberland County/Westmoreland County) in 1651, and was one
of the first pantentees in the County. He had 4 children: Thomas, Nathaniel,
Margaret, Ann-
Nathaniel Pope died in 1659, and in his will he refers to his son in law
-John Washington. There is other documentation that shows his dau. Ann was
married to John Washington.
I know very little about Ann Quisenberry-her children were born in the
1660s/70s, leading me to believe she was born in the 1640s/50s. (That is
purely speculation).
She is mentioned in John Quisenberry's will.
What i would like to find out is how researchers, such as AC Quisenberry,
arrived at the conclusion that Ann Quisenberry was a POPE. I am not doubting
it-I would only like to know where this info came from-
I dont have a copy of AC Quisenberry's book.
Thanks,
Nancy
