Michael, from what I understand the archives doesn't have the volunteers that would be needed to make these other records available to the public. I doubt seriously that they would allow anyone to handle them as they are. At least they indicated that to me. The last time I was there, they did bring out a box containing some records from a church that was held in a Ragsdale School building in the 4th District in the 1870s where my Ragsdales lived mostly. Then they took the box back to "never, never" land and I may never see it again!

Sue,
Are these boxes accessible by family history / genealogy researchers? I'd
love to make a visit to the archives if there's a possibility I could go
through them ....

I am Sue Ragsdale Endsley
*daughter of John Campbell Ragsdale
**grand-daughter of Elkana Ragsdale
***great grand-daughter of Hiram Ragsdale b 1815 in TN
Found Hiram on 1840 census of Williamson Co TN and can go no further back.
My Hiram seems to have spent his whole life, or at least his adult life, in
Williamson Co. He lived in Dist 2 and Dist 4, buying land at different times
in both. I can place him in Johnson Hollow, Dist 4, for part of the time
beside Jeffrey and Delilah Johnson whose daughter, I have recently found,
was the Mary Johnson he married. That and DNA from my nephew proving we do
descend from Godfrey Ragsdale (in some direction) are the only two
discoveries I have made this fifth year of researching.
I did find, by researching Giles Co, that there was an Abraham Ragsdale in
early land records of MIddle TN who never appeared in ANY of the TN censuses
Does anybody have any idea who this Abraham was?
There are so many Ragsdale males who COULD have been Hiram's father and I
can find nobody to connect him to. I suspect that the answer lies in one of
the many boxes stored in the back room of the Williamson Co Archives in
Franklin TN.
Thanks, Michael, for inviting me one more time to post.

WHERE'S EVERYONE AT?
Let's get everyone talking again; summer's almost over, cooler weather is on
the way, and there should be plenty of time to get back to doing family
research over the long cold winter months.
That said, as means of a refresher, and hopefully a "kick-start" for others
..
I am Michael Ragsdale
Son of Herbert Bernard Ragsdale
Grandson of Herbert Minter Ragsdale
Grt'-grandson of Samuel Ragsdale
Grt'-grt'-grandson of Jordan Ragsdale
Jordan is as far as I go back with any certainty, although speculation
abounds amongst others researching this line.
I had my y-DNA tested earlier this year and, for the most part, there seems
to be no "recent" common ancestor" connection with my line and that of the
Godfrey Ragsdale line. My Jordan Ragsdale had a brother named William, and I
was able to compare my y-DNA results with that of one of William's male
descendants and there was a perfect match, which, at least, helps to "prove"
our line (I am continuing to look for Ragsdale males to participate in the
Ragsdale Surname DNA Project).
OK ... now it's your turn. Tell us about your line, your brick walls, and
your success stories. You never know who might be reading these posts and be
able to knock one of those walls down.
