Joseph, are you familiar with Bill Ragsdale's book: "A Ragsdale Family History in England and America"? In it he has Godfrey3 as father of John,Gent and another John as son of Godfrey2. He has the two you mentioned, Cornelius and Drury, as sons of the latter John. I have heard it said that there are a lot of errors in his book but I don't know enough to say which is wrong.

I've wondered about the Ragsdales in Limestone Co Ala because there's a striking resemblence between their given names and that of my Williamson Co TN line. In fact, when I first started looking years ago, I thought that was my family. Do you by any chance know where the connection lies?

As to the Hudsons, Bill's book has Godfrey2-Daniel-Daniel to Robert who married a Judith Hudson 17 Mar 1768 in Warren Co NC and having a son William. In researching Warren Co, I found a William who married a Polly (Mary) Bell on 20 Apr 1793 which could be my HIram's parents. I was trying to find a marriage to a Mary, because I think the Widow Mary next door to Hiram in Williamson Co TN was his mother. That would depend on whether this William was living in SC in the year of 1805 when Hiram's sister Sarah was born. There was a William (born before 1755) in Union Dist SC on 1800 census but I don't know which William he was.
