Dear Alison
I am descended from the Sallnow family which you mention in you list of ancestors. I have known of a couple of marriages for sometime, but have never found out anymore info until now.
Also the records I have give the spelling of Ratin. However, I have been told that this is wrong and should be Rahn. It is a spelling error made in the Church of the Latter Day Saints records.
The information I have is:
Mary Ann Rahn (spelt Ratin in records) married Lawrence Christian Sallnow on 23 August 1798 in Stepney, London. Mary Ann was a minor married with her father John Rahn's consent. The witnessess were John Rahn and Susanna Wayn.
Then I have Marriane Sallnow's (christened 23 August 1816) marriage to George Rahn on 21st April 1831 in Stepney, London. This would make her only 15 or a little older depending on when her actual birthday was.
What do you think?
I would love to know more about what happened to them and their decendants. The Marriane sallnow I have in my records appears to match the one in yours.
I am not directly descended from Marrianne, as there are many branches to my Sallnow tree but all the Sallnows I have come across fit into the tree somewhere!
Hope to hear from you
Paula
