Can anyone give advice on the amount of training or service would be
required to become a station master at a rural station.
We have an Isle of wight chap who in 1861 was visiting relatives in London
and shown to be a warehouseman.
10 years later, he's back on the IOW and a station master at Brading. Would
this be possible or would he have had to be a rail employee for a
considerable period?
Thanks
