Well, I guess we are all stuck on a RAINS link!!
The following family has been pieced together--we think we are on the
right track. However, it is possible that there are errors in it. Can
anyone help?
John Rains was born in North Carolina in 1772. At least one wife, named
Phoeba, was born in 1795 in NC. We believe the county to be Randolph
County.
The following are probably their children:
Martha Rains b. 1804 in Randolph Co., NC married Jeremiah
Craven in 1821 in Ray County, MO
Elias Rains b. abt. 1805 (NC) Married Jane Gray in 1830 in
Sumner Co., TN
James Rains b. abt. 1809 in Tennessee Married
Rachel Vanderpool in Ray County, MO
George Rains b. 1812 in Tennessee married Jane G. Sharp abt.
1828 probably in Campbell Co, TN
Caswell Rains b. 1816 in Campbell Co. TN Married
Martha Queener in 1840 in Ray County, MO
As we picture the senario, John and his wife lived first in Randolph
County, NC, moving to Campbell Co., Tennessee about 1805-1809. Their
son, George, came first to Ray County with his wife about 1833. Whether
the rest of the family came then is a possibility. Some of the family
stayed in Ray County,MO while some went to neighboring counties.
Please realize this information is not yet completely researched, but we
are hoping that someone else recognizes this family and can help with
the validity of the information.
Thanks for any help you can be!!
