Wayne, please allow me to introduce myself to you. Karen Mouton and I discovered each other last year while researching the Walden line of Jefferson, Warren, and Glascock Counties. She said you were her cousin and told me about you. I have connected to a child of Willie Walden, son of Joshua Walden of Jefferson County and my great Uncle. Elizabeth Walden, daughter of Willie married Richard Russell and lives in Thomson. I plan to be meeting with her hopefully in the next few weeks (planned this weeks ago but have not been able to get it together yet) and I will ask about your Mother's relations I believe was the request (I have it written down somewhere) and get back to you after our meeting.
What I am actually responded to is Raley's in Mitchell. Do you know Sanda and Phil Raley (own Raley's Restaurant)? I don't know if this is the same Raley family you are searching but Sandra is my first cousin. I talk to her all of the time about my genealogy researchers. Seems like Phil just had an uncle that was murdered in a nearby county, can't remember the details. I would be glad to pass on any info from Phil if you think this is a connection.
Also I need some help. My grandfather was Gozie Walden who lived in the middle of Gibson and was a Justice of the Peace. He was a big, jolly round man! He died in 1977. His father was John Lane Walden who died on October 6 or 7, 1930 (his death cert says one date and the tombstone says the other). John lived in Glascock County and was then married to Pearl Williams Walden. I did not find his obituary in the Jefferson News & Farmer and he lived in Jefferson prior to Glascock. I saw that one of the books published in Warren County had some obituaries from the Warren Clipper for Glascock. If you are privy to this could you check and see if there is anything about this obituary listed. John was buried at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Avera.
Sandra Raley discussed above is Gozie's granddaughter through Ogle Walden who married J. C. Sammons. They live in Edgehill.
Again, I'll be glad to hook up Phil and his brother who live in Mitchell with you if you don't know them and need their help.
