I recently came into possession of a silver bar to The Royal Canadian
Dragoons. It is rectangular in shape at 4.5 x 2.8 cm (or 1 3/4 x 1 1/8 ").
The obverse is silver and has a gold springbok (hat badge) over a black
background within an oval border. The reverse is also silver and has
engraved the words "THE ROYAL / CANADIAN DRAGOONS / CANADA" within a double
engraved border. Engraved on one edge are the words "GOLD ELECTROPLATE ON
STERLING" with three hallmarks. I have yet to ID the hallmarks, but one is
the figures '83', which could be a year. (centennial year ???)

Can anyone assist me with the ID and purpose of this silver bar. I can send
a scanned image on request.

Thanks

Thomas Skelding
