Subject: [REED-L] Brick wall is crumbling.......

Hello all! I hope everyone is having a safe and fun holiday weekend! I
spent Saturday at the FHC, and may have found my brickwall, my paternal
grandfather Laurence Reed.

I found him on the 1920 Utah census for Salt Lake City. Mind you, I've
looked at the soundex film twice before, and never saw him. This time, his
name jumped out at me. He was enumerated with his stepfather. However, the
age listed doesn't match what was on my father's birth certifacte.

The 1920 census lists him as being 6, so he would have been born 1913.
My father's birth cert in 1933 lists Laurence as 21, so a birth year of
1912/1911 is what I have been chasing. *sigh*

Perhaps he falsified his age to leave home, or to marry? His wife was only
17 when their son was born.

If it is him, he had a sister Loraine, and a half brother Paul MULLINGER.

I ordered a SS-5 that matches the birth year of 1913 in August, and a death
date of 1987, which fits my time frame. Perhaps when I get it I will have
confirmation. His mother is listed in the census as Muelissa, a spelling
variation I have never seen.

Thanks for listening! My husband is always glad when I make a discovery,
but I can tell the details really don't interest him. :)
