Robert married Rachel circa 1832 in North Carolina. Rachel was born in 1810 in Columbus County, North Carolina. She died in 1864 in Indiana.

They had the following children:

3. Edith Agnes Reed was born during 1840 in Brown County, Ohio. She died in 1900 in Indiana.
4. Arthur Hart Reed was born in 1842 in Brown County, Ohio. He died on 14 Aug 1878 in White County, Tennessee.
5. Evelyn Virginia Reed was born on 26 Nov 1846 in Ohio. She died in 1929 in Arkansas.
6. Andrew D. Reed was born in 1850 in Ohio.
7. Amanda Julia Reed was born during 1852 in Brown County, Ohio.
8. Harriet Reed was born in 1854 in Brown County, Ohio. She died on 30 Aug 1945 in Mississippi.
