Interchange of genealogical data between different programmes using GEDCOM
is usually satisfactory, but be warned there are problems for the unwary.

Some programmes use data tags that are different from the GEDCOM standards
and the receiving programme tags. The receiving programme may just ignore
such data, it might put all the unregognised data in the NOTES field or it
could produce a list of unrecognised data which can be entered manually if
required.

Some programmes do allow you to change the data tags before you export to a
GEDCOM file, but this does not seem to be the norm with the later ones

Still the GEDCOM interchange is about the best general method around for
most of us.
