Thanks to all who shared their experiences with me on the list and by
direct e-mail, regarding the lack of results in dealing with NARA for
military records. The overwhelming experience seems to be exceedingly long
delays.
Someone referred me to Broadfoot Publishing and said that they have had
much success in dealing with this company for Civil War records. I visited
their website and it does look promising, so I may try it. The URL is
