Hope this helps a bit.

Jacob Rich line
Thomas Rich Sr.(c.1730 Germany-1780 SC)
married Susannah Noah(c. 1730-died after 1792 Orange County NC)[daughter of
Peter & Hannah Noe/Noah of Orange County, NC)
Thomas and Susannah had three known children-Thomas Jr., Peter & Jacob.
These three received land grants as a result of service in the Revolutionary
war. The grandfather also served and Thomas Sr. died at Gates defeat near
Camden SC in 1780.
Jacob Rich Sr.(Dec 16 1762NC-Aug 14, 1838 TN).
married first Philpina N. Sharp(Aug 8, 1765-Aug 2, 1808 TN).

Edward C.-May 6, 1825 TN
Andrew J. -Oct 6, 1828
To add to the confusion Marshall Howell Rich(who moved to and died in Panola
county MS Mar 6, 1877) had a nephew named after him who lived and died in
Tennessee being almost as old as his uncle.
This Jacob Rich line and the Noah family intermarried with each others
family a number of times. Thomas Sr. was a German immigrant also naturalized
in 1762 as I recall. The original name -Reich.

The History and Coat of Arms of the RICH family
(Left is a sample of what your surname history scroll may look like!!!)
The history of this ancient Hampshire family traces its ancestry as a family
of Norman origin before the year 1100 and appears first in the ancient
records in Hampshire .
There is a great deal of evidence that both the Rich(Reich) and
Noah(Neu/Noe)
families of Orange county NC originated from the Palatine(Saarland-esp
Breitfurt) and there is a good possibility they were Swiss or Dutch. Many
Swiss had
been imported into this area because of the mortality of so many residents
during the long wars.
Most of the family records were seized and burned by the pesky Tories
during the Rev war.
For instance a history professor/writer(Ruth Blackwelder) wrote that 'by
1751
settlers were flocking in(to Orange county NC), mostly from Pennsylvania'.
Moreover, the use of certain first names(John, Thomas, Jacob,
Susannah/Hannah) common in the different locations lends to the credibility
of the theory that all were related and originated from the same area of
Europe.
Any further info will be received gratefully by myself and no doubt many
forum members.
Thanks
Bobby Rich

Would like to verify her maiden name. (Possibly Sharp or Noe) Jacob was
living in Orange Co. N.C. at that time.
