Hi Leonie and Listers:
I'm afraid I may be the oddball here again, as my Richardsons weren't happy
to stay put on "the old sod" as it were, but made the journey to Canada. I
am very interested in learning about the branches that stay behind though
<G>.
My great-grandparents were Henry and Sarah Jane Taylor Richardson. Henry
was born in E. Tilbury, Ontario after his parents John and Margaret Stewart
Richardson decided to move onward from Beauharnois Quebec, which is where
the Richardson, Stewart, and Young families had originally decided to
settled after their immigration ca. 1832. John Richardson's parents were
John and Isobel Anderson Richardson, who along with 4 small children,
decided that Canada might provide a wonderful farming future for their
children.
I have located John Richardson and Isobel Anderson's marriage registration
in Lilliesleaf, Scotland in Oct 1822. I have also located their first four
children's baptismal registrations: James in Bowden, Roxburghshire in 1823,
and John in 1826, Betsey in 1828, and William in 1831. The latter three
were all registered in Earlston, Berwickshire. Per records and their grave
markers, I know that John (the elder) and Isobel were born in 1798 and 1796
respectively. But even if those years are bang on accurate, that still
leaves me with several possibilities for each as far as their individuals
parents would go. My only other clues is that the marriage registration
reads that Isobel was a member of Lilliesleaf Parish and John of Bowden, and
that John was a tailor by trade.
I look forward to hopefully trading information with you all.
