Edward 'Todd' Richardson

Tupper Lake - Edward 'Todd' Richardson, 67, of Tupper Lake, died Thursday,
Oct. 10, 1996 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born April 5, 1929 in Tupper Lake, he was the son of Edward M. and Eva L.
(Lussier) Richardson.

He married Gladys B. Pepin Aug. 18, 1956.

Mr. Richardson was a Navy veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. After
training at Aviation Scholl in Jacksonville, Fla. and Parachute Rigger
School in Lakehurst, N.J., his first duty was with torpedo and attack planes
and then with heavy attack jet squadrons on aircraft carriers.

He was on the Navy Boxing Team in the welterweight class, a member of the
Rifle and Pistol Team and achieved a master NRA rifle and pistolman ranking,
receiving numerous medals and awards.

He received several medals and awards including World War II Victory Medal,
China Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Navy Occupations
Service Medal (European Clasp).

His last duty station was in Albany as chef re-enlistment coordinator until
September 1968. He received his 30 year retirement in December 1975 as
chief aircrew survival equipment man.

He returned to Tupper Lake in 1968 and managed Tupper Bowl. He also worked
for Johnson and Jack McDugal construction companies for many years as a
carpenter.

He was a member of Benjamin Churco Post 220, American Legion, and Edmund
Bujold Adirondack Post 3120, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife of Tupper Lake; six children, Lynn Trudell of
Riverside, R.I., Mrs. Jeffrey (Janet) Mead of Mt. Laurel, N.J., Robert
Richardson of Medford, N.J., Todd Richardson and Carol Richardson, both of
Tupper Lake, and Jeffrey Richardson of Mt. Laurel, N.J.; nine grandchildren;
three sisters and brothers-in-law, Myrtle and Ernest Stafford, Shirley and
Bob Gale, all of Tupper Lake, and Irma and Peter DelRosa of Rochester; and
16 nieces and nephews.

Two sisters,, Lillian Moynihan and Mary, and a brother, Harley Richardson,
died before him.

Calling hours at the Richer Funeral Home will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to
9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral
home. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Alphonsus
Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the Tupper Lake VFW Monument Fund.
