Al:
i h ope I am not jumping too much on what I see as John's movements. I have
him first listed in Capt. Samuel Cobrin's militia in the vicinity of what
became Anson/Lincoln Co., NC about 1747, listed among young unmarried men.
In 1758 Samuel and Margaret Coburn deed John land in Anson Co., NC.
He shows up there and a little later in Mecklenburg Co., NC.In 1768 he sells
Mecklenburg Co., land.
He got a land grant in 1773 in Tryon Co. on Beaverdam Creek.
He witnesses a deed for Samuel Coburn in 1773 in Mecklenburg Co.
He got more land in 1775.
About 1782 he sold land to James Hope or Pope.
THEN 3 October 1786 John Richmond of Henrycounty, VA sold to John Taber of
Rutherford Co., NC his NC land on Beaverdam Creek. A James Richmond witnessed
the transaction.
He later shows in Montgomery Co., Va and Russell and Washington Co., Va
records. A John died in 1806 in Russell with wife named Margaret. A John
showed up in 1790 records in Washington and Russell with a wife named Sarah.
I forgot to mention that one of the Mecklenburg Co., NC deeds names his wife
Sarah.
I have abstracts from various books for all of the above and will mail you
copies if you like. I would like a record of what you have on Lydia in Henry
Co.,
Sherman
