James D. Richmond was born about 1822, probably in Mississippi (Pike Co ?).
He died about 1878. We believe he is the son of William (b in Tennessee) and
Mary (b. in S. Carolina). If so, his siblings were:
Mary M. 1828
Louisa J. 1830
Mahaly A. 1836
Augustus 1837
Jacob 1839
Emmanuel 1845
The family apparently moved from MS to LA (Washington Parish)- where the
younger children were born - back to MS (Pike Co.), and then at least some of
them moved back to Louisiana (Oakdale) in the 1870s.
James D. married Martha A. Ballard (b. abt 1830), daughter of Nathan and
Ruth.. They had 3 children - John Augustus Richmond (b. abt 1856), Martha
J. Richmond (b. abt 1865), and James George McNabb Richmond (b. December 9,
1867). (all 3 born in MS). James D. died when George was about 10, probably
after moving the family back to Louisiana.
Lot's of probables and maybes there. Does anybody have anything more
definite to add to this? Even if they had had records, courthouses in Pike
Co, MS and Calcasieu Parish, LA burned, so not much proof of anything
survives.
Donna J. Richmond
