Well, being an Anglican (Episcopalian) I'd guess he was an Anglican, but I'm
not sure we really know.
My wife's a Quaker (convinced, not birthright), and I've met a Quaker
Richmond or two - there still are some. Earlham College in Richmond IN is one of the
major Quaker colleges, affiliated with Friends United Meeting (FUM - my wife's
Friends General Conference, or FGC). I don't know what the Richmond
connection in Indiana is.
As I said in an earlier post, I descend from two Richmond lines from my two
parents. For the evidence in JBR, they weren't Quakers. But some of the finer
loonies in our family were - don't even get me STARTED on Olney Hawkins
