Sorry to spoil it, but the signature is printed. It was a common 19th
Century practice, and is present also in my original as well as the
Higginson reprint.

Richmond has become a very good first or middle name within the family.
My grandmother's brother also was Richmond.

Yes, I too visited Richmond, Yorkshire, years ago, and even though any
connection of Yorkshire Richmonds to the Wiltshire Richmonds is
terribly collateral, it's fun to to drinking water from a "Richmond
Castle" mug, as I write, and to have various other souvenirs that I
never use - such as pens. Maybe eventually I should start a contest
and give away a Richmond castle pen. Also my favorite place to stay
when visiting London was in Richmond, Surrey, where Queen Elizabeth
resided and died.
