Could someone tell me where to request birth records for my great-grandmother, Lilly May Leach, of Providence? She was born in 1868.

Is there a state agency or some historical society that has these records?? Most of my research has been overseas (England, Scotland) and here in Ohio where I live. Our state Historical Society has many of these type records in Ohio. Just wondered where to find the same thing in Rhode Island. I spent some time on Cyndi's List looking but really didn't see the right thing.
