Dear List,

I am pleased I am not the only person to have had disappointments with
Ancestry.com.

I have always been surprised when I hear someone praising their service
as I have found it to be one of the most inefficient from a time/effort
point of view available. One might as well forget ot view the surname
lists as it seems most have only one or two identifiers and most are the
same information repeated over and over again.

Customer service with Ancestry.com is an oxymoron as in "military
intelligence". Some of the "old list members" may recall I worked
several weeks, with the help of many of your listers, to get an
intelligent response from Ancestry.com as to the meaning of AIS in their
census information and never was successful.

I, as well as many others, are concerned about the partnership of
Ancestry.com (one of THE WORST) with RootsWeb (in my opinion, THE
BEST). For those familiar with Gresham's Law; it states in its simplest
form that bad money (paper) tends to drive good (gold) money out of
circulation, i.e. a weak company merges with a strong company and the
result is another weak company. I wish the very best to RootsWeb to
continue to do the excellent job they are doing. That is why I
supported them financially, but stopped subscribing to Ancestry.com a
long time ago. You can throw FTM into the mix, should you wish; I have!
