I extracted the following probate record today. It contains a considerable amount of family information which I hope someone will find useful. Hugh McElroy, of Tefft St. Providence, husband of ANN McGUIGGAN, and the testator of the will was the father of Patrick, Charles, and Michael and Alice (McElroy) McKenna.

Estate of Hugh McElroy

General Release

We, JOHN C. McELROY, MICHAEL F. McELROY, and ANNIE F. PROFFITT of Providence. in consideration of $33.33 to us paid by PATRICK McELROY, do release and forever quitclaim unto said PATRICK McELROY, his heirs and assigns forever, all manner of actions, cause of actions, debts, dues, claims and demands, both in law and equity which against said PATRICK McELROY, We said JOHN C. McELROY, MICHAEL F. McELROY and ANNIE F. PROFFIT, as children of CHARLES McELROY, late of Providence, deceased, ever had, now have or ought to have for or by reason or means of any matter or thing from the beginning of the world to the day of this date. and especially by reason of a legacy bequeathed to said CHARLES McELROY by the Will of HUGH McELROY of said Providence.
