Hi

I have been searching for information on skeletal remains that were found in
Smithfield at 725 Putnam Pike in April 1977. The remains were examined and
determined to be that of an approximate 14 year old white female. The homeowner
at that time (1977) was preparing to enlarge his yard when he dug through an
elevated area that must have been a grave, unbeknownst to him.

No one has ever determined who that young female was. It was noted that
there was a "sick house" for treatment of those with TB in the area, but it was
thought that this person had no injuries or disease.

This land was likely part of the Steere property at the time, but it does not
appear Smithfield burial sites are online yet.

Any assistance you can give would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Carol Capron
