The "S" means son
the "D" means daughter

I have found a birth recorded on NEHGS (child of George C and Sarah A Pilkington) July 12, 1890. The name is recorded as:
Pilkington -s of George C..... 14:241
There is also a birth listed:
Pilkington William of George and Sarah A
July 11, 1890 A1:28
I knew that there was a child William born, but was surprised by the other listing. Does the "-s" mean that the child was stillborn? Could William have been a twin?
There are some other "-s" on the page and also a "-d". Could anyone tell me what these mean?
Thank you,
Priscilla
