MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Gabriel R. Rivera, 75, Muscatine, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003, at Genesis Medical Center - East Campus, Davenport.

Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at First Assembly of God Church, Muscatine. The Rev. Mike Bales will officiate. Pallbearers are Gabe Rivera, Joseph Rivera, Dan Rivera, Matt Rivera, Doug Rivera, Mark Reyes, Rorlando Solis and Orlando Reyes. Honorary pallbearers are Barry Rivera, David Solis, Brance Rivera, Benjamin Rivera, Isaac Rivera and Andrew Reyes. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. After the burial, a luncheon will be held at the church.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to First Assembly of God Church.

Mr. Rivera was born on April 18, 1928, in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, the son of Fundador and Juana Rivera. He married Julia Ann Little on Oct. 6, 1960, in Atlanta, Ga.

He was a member of First Assembly of God Church.

He worked at International Harvesters for more than 30 years. He previously was employed at Heinz and most recently worked at CDS, Wilton.

He enjoyed watching baseball.

Survivors include his wife; his children, Gabe Rivera and his wife, Deb, of Fredricksburg, Va., Joseph Rivera and his wife, Deanne, of Anomosa, Daniel Rivera and his wife, Pam, of Eagle Lake, Minn., Matthew Rivera and his wife, Susannna, of Muscatine, Douglas Rivera and his wife, Kathy, of Bolingbrook, Ill., Gigi Anacleto and her husband, Alan, of Florida, Johannah Reyes and her husband, Toribio, of Muscatine, Juana Solis and her husband, Juan, of Moline, Ill., Gabriella Rivera and Jessica Dixon and her husband, James, all of Muscatine; many grandchildren and great- grandchildren; one brother, Angel Ascencio of Puerto Rico; and two sisters, Irma Pena and her husband, Ruben, of Puerto Rico and Anna Isales of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James; three brothers, Emilio, Angel and Pedro Rivera; and one granddaughter, April Rivera.
MT. PLEASANT, Iowa - David Saravia Rivera, 27, died Saturday, January 24, 2004, in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

Family burial will be held in El Salvador at a future date.

Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty.
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Arturo R. Rivera, 81, Muscatine, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, Terrance Park.

Lino Padilla will officiate the services. Casket bearers are Arnold Rivera, Arnold Torres, Joe Aquirre, Antonio Torres, Patricio Carrasco, Marty Torres, Ioan Coca and Jesse Rodriquez. After the services, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room.

Mr. Rivera was born July 27, 1923, in Cline, Texas, the son of Cayetano and Guadalupe (Rivera) Rivera. He married Julia Anita Arellano Jan. 10, 1945, in Crystal City, Texas.

He was employed at Bandag and retired after 18 years of service.

He attended St. Paul United Methodist Church, Muscatine, and was a member of the Woodman of the World. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife; six daughters, Yolanda Aquirre and husband Jose, Dora Torres and her husband Antonio, Ruby Rivera, Trudy Sagastume and husband Marlon, Maria Angelica Torres and husband Greg and Marivel Coca and husband Ioan, all of Muscatine; three sons, Arnold A. Rivera and wife Judy of Muscatine, Arturo Rivera II of San Antonio, Texas, and Alfredo Rivera of Durant; three brothers, Alfredo Rivera and wife Lina, Alfonso Rivera and his wife and Arnulfo Rivera and wife Lorena, all of Crystal City; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Maria Angelica and Aurora Espinoza.
MUSCATINE, Iowa - Darlene Adella Rivera, 81, of Muscatine, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at her daughter's home.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Don Swanson of the First Baptist Church will officiate the services. Honorary Bearers will be Toribio Reyes, Juan Solis, Luke Borst, Anthony Gonzalas, Jessie Gomez, and James Dixon. Casket bearers will be Matthew Rivera, Jessie 'Isaak' Gomez, Mark Reyes, Andrew Reyes, Rolando Solis, David Solis, Gabriel Joseph Rivera, John Silva, and Orlando Reyes. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2005, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church.
Darlene was born on October 17, 1923, in Muscatine, the daughter of Clarence A. and Hannah Nicolay Martin. She married Gabriel Rivera on December 12, 1953, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They later divorced in 1960.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed helping to teach Sunday School Class for the 2 to 4 year olds.
She had worked for the H. J. Heinz Company.
She loved children. She enjoyed playing games with her kids and grandchildren. She was always the champion.
Survivors include her children, Gabriel Rivera Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Romania, Joseph Rivera of Anamosa, Johannah Reyes of Muscatine, Juana Solis of Moline, Illinois, and Daniel Rivera and wife, Pamela, of Eagle Lake, Minnesota; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and special family members and their children, Julia Rivera of Muscatine, Matthew Rivera and wife, Susanna, of Muscatine, Douglas Rivera and wife, Kathy, of Bolingbrook, Illinois, Jessie Gomez and wife, Gabriella, of Muscatine and James Dixon and wife, Jessica of Muscatine.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, a granddaughter, and a great-grandson.
