Thanks for joining in Joanne. I have the section on the Roberts from Our Family Circle. I tend to agree with Hugh on the mixing of family and i believe it was with the children of John Elias. Three Rapides Families does state that one of the two went to wst Virginia where he was a prominent man. Well, I cannot find much on ELias anywhere. There is a Lewis listed in Pioneers of Wiregrass listed as being from Charleston SC. had a son named John. In the books Passport Issued by Georgia giving permission to persons to come through Indian Terrotory there is a Lewis, John and James mentioned. I think this is the Lewis or at least a descendent. I am waiting for another book I have ordered which may shed some light on this. It is from Echols County Georgia. My james was from Coleton County South Carolina. he and spouse migrated to Columbia County Florida sometime around 1845. He had one son John Irvin who stayed in South Carolina, one that died in South Carolina James Brince, one !
that came to FLorida but it is said he went to Georgia first William James (Cherokee Bill) and a daughter Celia who married a William Harris in South Carolina but moved to FLorida. The father of James married to Temperance was John Henry Roberts who died in Colleton County South Carolina Prince William Parish. the James married to Temperance died and is buried in Union County Florida Swift Creek Cemetery along with other Roberts who also came through Georgia to get to Columbia County FLorida. Thats wehre the mystery lies. James is buried with them and some say he was related but there is no proof to be found as of yet. One of his other sons Nathan Miles is buried in the same cemetery. his son William and daughter Celia along with their mother moved to Polk County Florida some years before James died. (wonder what that was about)
