Has any one researched the three Roberts families living in Burke Co., NC in
1820 Census. They are William (old enough to be the father of the other two),
Richard and Samuel. My gg grandfather Abel H. Roberts married Harriette E.
Hyder, 1837 in Rutherford Co., NC. The book "NC Troops" listed him as joining
the confederacy but was not elligible to remain because he was too old at that
time. The book further stated that he was born in Burke Co., NC in 1818 and
enlisted from that county. Samuel Roberts of 1820 Burke Co., census was the
only Roberts in the country at that time who had a son in the "under 10 year
old bracket". If anyone has information on these gentlemen I would be so
grateful to hear from you.
