Hi Golfeydie and list,

You need to check in references like Burkes or Debretts for authorized Coats
of Arms.

Only three ROBERTS Coats of arms are listed by DeBrett's Illustrated
Baronetage, on pages 1967,1968 & 1969 . None of these match your description.

I flunked Latin but I would guess that the inscription "per mare per terras"
is something like By Sea by Land.

The First crest descents son is listed as Gilbert Howland ROOKHURST ROBERTS
3340 Calif. Dr , Santa Barbars, CA b. 31 May 1934

The second is Wm James Denby ROBERTS b 10 Aug 1936

The third crest descendants lists a son Samuel ROBERTS b. 16 Apr 1948 96
(Eaton Pl SW1) [London?? dlc

Subject: Coat of Arms
Hi all - I have found a coat of arms that must have belonged to either my
ROBERTS ancestors or my HOOD ancestors and I need help determining which. It
has "Alexander of Powis" over the shield which has a small animal on top
(can't tell what it is) and "per mare per terras" under the shield. I need
to know what it is. It had hung in my grandparents home for at least 50
years. It looks like it could have been hand painted. There is no signature
as to who painted it. HELP PLEASE!!
