Ray,
Good to hear from you again and thanks for the information about the Major
David cemetery. I found much new information in the data you provided. I
thought it might be interesting to see how many of these folks I could
identify and plug in some more facts to. As you see, I had some success and
some interesting things came to light. However, there are still have many
that I could not nail down. If anyone can add to this, we’ll be most
thankful.

Cain, RachelRogers: 1865-1908: This must be RachelA. Rogers, dau of
Henderson Rogers below. I have her dates as 10 Jan 1863 – Mar 1908. She had
a twin sister, Anna. Rachel married Maynard Horace Cain.

Lewis, Catherine:wife of Solomon, 1759-1845: CatherineMoon (1759-25 Aug 1845)
Lewis, Josephine: 1882-1884: ?
Lewis, Solomon: Revolutionary War, father of Polly Lewis Rogers, 1750-1843:
(1750-6 Mar 1843)
Lewis, William H.:1880-1884: William Henderson Lewis (26Feb 1880-14 Nov
1884). Son of Joseph L.Lewis and Thirza (or Thursa) Matilda Rogers. She was
the dau of Henderson Rogers below. I don’t know who Joseph’s parents were.

Rogers, C.H.: Civil War, 1826-1893: CanadaHodge Rogers (30 Jun 1826-8 Aug
1893). Served in the Civil War (Union Army). Civil War, 1st US INF Company C,
Raised in Claiborne Co, TN. He enlisted 5 Sep 1861. He served, at least
initially as a 2ndLieutenant. He was the youngest son of Maj David.
Rogers, Henderson:son of Major David, 1820-1892. (18 May1820-28 Jun 1892).
Tenth child of MajorDavid.
Rogers, Hugh: 1843-1860: Hugh H. Rogers(4 Feb 1843-25 Feb 1860). Son of
David Franklin (Doc) Rogers and grandson of Maj David. He was also the
brother of Sneed and William F. Rogers.
Rogers, James: 1850-1886: James(Jimmy) Rogers (12 Jun 1850-26 Apr 1886). He
was the oldest son of Henderson Rogers above. He married Rhoda Lane.
Rogers, Jessie: 1847-1888: Jessie C.Rogers (1847-27 Apr 1888). He was the
oldest son of Canada Hodge Rogers above and Nancy Malinda Van Bebber. He
married Emily E. Cawood on 6 Jan 1865 in Campbell Co, TN. He may be the
subject of the Maryville Index (Maryville, TN) September 18, 1878 story that
Janet sent recently.
Rogers, Lewis: 1824-1857: ? I have a Lewis Moon Rogers b. 31 Dec 1824who
was the son of Maj David, but he died 25 Jan 1902. McKenzie once wrote,
"Uncle StevenRogers told me that his uncle Lew, who had a phenomenal memory,
told him much of what he has learned about the Rogers family, and he
attributes his early interestin his family to the stories and facts passed on
to him by his uncle." However, it appears thatthere was another Lewis Rogers
born in 1824. Can anyone nail him down?

1825(?)-19 Nov 1907)
Rogers, Polly Lewis: wife of Major David, 1781-1880: Mary Elizabeth (Polly)
Lewis (1 Jan 1781-13 Feb 1880. She was of course the dau of Solomon Lewis
above.
Rogers, Reuben: 1846-1851: Reuben C. Rogers (20 Dec 1846-10 Oct 1851). He
was the son of David Franklin (Doc) Rogers and Elizabeth (Betsy) Hampton.
Rogers, Rhoda: 1850-1880: I’m just guessing because I don’t have any dates
for her, but I suspect that this is James Rogers’ wife Rhoda Lane. He is
listed above (1850-1886). I don’t know who her parents were.

McKenzie once wrote: Glenna Isabelle Sharp Rogers and her Aunt, Edith
Elizabeth Rogers Carr, were two of my High School teachers. Their Uncle,
William H. (Harry Bill) Rogers, shot and killed my gr-grandfather, John F.
Rogers, for killing his brother Jimmy (so the story goes). William H. was
the son of Henderson Rogers above. His brother Jimmy also above died 26 Apr
1886. He was not quite 36 years old. Within six months, John Franklin
Rogers (17 Feb 1852-23 Oct 1886), the gr-grandfather of McKenzie, was also
dead. Family feud?
Sweat, Anna:1853-1935: I have an Anna Sweat who married William Jason
Russell (6 Jan 1894-23 May 1966), but she would have been much older than her
husband.
