Subject: [ROGERS-BEN] John (TPM) at King's Mountain

Cousins,

As we have seen there is much doubt as to whether or not John (TPM) actually
served in the VA Line 3rd Regiment although it is support by family
"tradition", MaryLea Rogers Forsythe's DAR membership, and the head stone
errected by our ancestors. Some believe that the John Rogers that did serve
in the 3rd Reg't is not our John (TPM). I agree that it is questionable and
requires further documentation. I don't think there is much more to be said
about that for the time being, but if anyone has more information, please lay
it on us.

Now on to the next item, namely, John (TPM)'s presence at the battle of
King's Mountain. Here, we also find a family story that he was in fact at
this famous battle. This traditional family story appears to be older than
the prior subject we debated. Unfortunately, there is not much hard
evidence. Having said that, I believe we need to pool what we know (or what
we've heard) about John (TPM) being at King's Mountain.

Anyone like to start the ball rolling? Don't be shy, just tell us what you
have heard or seen written.

Jerry
