We have seen a lot of data on John Rogers. Here's my bit. I've been working
on his daughter Elizabeth and her husband William Keene. Would like input
on them.

Generation No. 1

1. John1 Rogers was born 1620 in England, and died July 21, 1680 in
Northumberland County Virginia. He married (1) Ellin ........... Rogers.
He married (2) Anne ..... Temple Clay Abt. 1668.

History Of John Rogers Family by Juanelle Crump
John Rogers was, the first of his family in Virginia, was born about
1620. He was an early settler of Northumberland Countty and in 1653
purchased 250 acres there. In 1654 he patented an additional 50 acres. His
patent for these 300 acres was renewed in 1656 and the following year he
added another 200 acres. All his patents were renewed in 1663. He was
active in affairs of the county, serving as Justice in 1656 and as Sheriff
in 1666. He also served in the militia as Captain and later Major. He took
part in the Indian War of 1676.

He Married first Ellin, last name unknown, and then Anne___________ Temple
Clay, widow of John Temple and Francis Clay. His will was entered for
probate in Northumberland County July 21, 1680..
His children by his first wife Ellen were Elizabeth who married William
Keene , William who married Elizabeth Dale, Richard who marreid Jane
Presley, Catherine, John Jr. who married Jean ________, and Ellen who
married George Heale. Their son Joseph Heale was the first husband of
Hannah Bushrod ( Crump) .
Elizabeth Rogers Keene, the mother of Hannah Keene, married Thomas Banks
of Wiltshire, England, after her first husband died.

On July 20, 1754 he conveyed a calf to each of his children Katherine,
Elizabeth and John. I have used this data to estimate their ages.

Children of John Rogers and Ellin Rogers are:
2i.Richard2 Rogers, born Abt. 1640 in Northumberland County Virginia;
died August 18, 1697 in Virginia. He married Jane Presley.
3ii.Katherine Rogers, born Abt. 1642 in Northumberland County Virginia.
4iii.Elizabeth Rogers, born Abt. 1644 in Northumberland County,
Virginia; died March 15, 1721/22 in Northumberland County, Virginia. She
married (1) William Keene Abt. 1664 in Northumberland County Virginia. She
married (2) Thomas Banks December 08, 1687 in Northumberland

Notes for Elizabeth Rogers:
Elizabeth's will proved March 15, 1722 mentions William , John and Hannah
who married John Bushrod.

Notes for William Keene:
At Cypress Poin, an early Keene residence there are two slabs, broken but
still legible.
William Keene's stone say's " Here lyeth the body of William Keene, the
oldest son of Thomas and Mary Keene Born in Kentin Maryland the 10 th day
of March ....1642 who mayrryed Eliz. the daughter of John Rogers Gent. and
Ellin his wife of Northumberland Co. in Virginia, by whome he had two
sons and four daughters and dyed ye 8 day of Feb. 1684 in ye two and
fortieth year of his age."
The Other stone, the stone of Thomas Banks. in addition to details on him ,
says," he married three wives. the last of which he took to wife Eliz the
Relict of of William Keene, dec'd, daughter of John Rogers Gent and Ellin
his wife of Northumberland County in Virginia, was marryed the 8 th day of
December 1687,"
Elizabeth died in 1722 it is assumed that she is buried with her husbands.

5iv.John Rogers, born Abt. 1648 in Northumberland County Virginia; died

Notes for John Rogers:
John died in 1680 . His will was presented for probate by his widow, Joan.
they had sons John and William. The children were placed under care of
William Rogers then Richard Rogers and then William Keene, Elizabeth
Rogers' husband.

6v.William Rogers, born 1655 in Northumberland County Virginia; died
1714 in Lancaster County Virginia. He married Elizabeth Dale March 12,
