In scanning the 1999 DESussex archives, I came across the name Roop or
Rupp -

Roop or Rupp family that was in the
Lewes area around 1850--? In the 1850 census they are listed as follows:

John M. Roop 36 M Shoemaker Germany
Dorothy 30 F Germany
Mary 6 F New York
Henri 4 M Sussex Co.
Lydia /12 F Sussex Co.

I know the name ROOP is or was? well-known in the Fort Recovery area of
Mercer Co., OH, and I am wondering if this is a family that might have
migrated to western OH as did my HASTINGS/BENNETT and COLLINS/WALSTON
ancestors (1847).

Were there relatives or neighbors that had gone before; if so, why did they
choose Mercer Co., OH, to settle. [HEARNs - from DE/MD? - are found in
neighboring Jay Co., IN, at one time, but not for long.]
