The ROOTS-INDEX is an alphabetically sorted list of of *NET *roots*
readers who have *IN THEIR POSSESSION* significant amounts of genealogical
information on their family lineage which they are willing to share with other
readers who may be doing parallel research.

The Index contains single lines in the following format:
SURNAMES........ of family *LINES* on which you *HAVE DONE* research.
DATE............ Earliest ancestor birth year.
DATE............ Latest descendent birth year.
MIGRATION....... of this ancestral line from origin.
PATH............ your USENET path where someone can E-mail you for additional
information about this research line.

Please limit these to one line per surname. The following format should be used:
SURNAME DATE DATE MIGRATION................... PATH .................
Use a space as a delimiter between fields. Also, don't use bang(!) type paths
if at all possible. This will save space on the one line format.

The ROOTS-INDEX will be posted to soc.roots periodically. (as yet undetermined)

USE OF THE ROOTS-INDEX:
When a soc.roots reader sees a SURNAME listed in the ROOTS-INDEX that
may be a link to research which (s)he is doing, (s)he should attempt
to contact the person having costody of the data and requesting
ADDITIONAL information about the possible ancestral link. This can be
done via UseNet E-mail using the pathname listed.
