I'm new to this mailing list.
('just warning you first)
Also, I'm testing if my REply function will work to this node.

My main reason for being interested in ROOTS-L is because I will be
writing a Geneology program this summer (probably in C), and wanted to
get some tips from anyone who may have done this, or seen similar
programs. For that matter, does anyone HAVE a program that is of good
quality and reliability? Since the program is for my own use, I am not
set on writing it myself, if I find an existing program that'll work
for me, fine. What I'm looking for is a kind of database that can
access anybody in the tree by name, relative, side-of-the-family type
deals, or by miaden name, etc... It's going to be pretty big, since
I'm looking at going back 14 generations (into the US 1719).
I already have most of the tree, it's not the NAMES I'm worried
about so much as the PROGRAM. But, nevertheless, anyone who has any
freinds or relatives of the PRICE surname, or relatives thereof (who
are of Germanic descent emigrating to US early 1700's), please contact
me. Other names may be PREIZ, PREIZE, or possibly SMITH, DETWILER (not
Detweiler or Detwieler), HEDRICK, or HETRICK, or HERTZELL/HARTZELL.
