1. Sommerset House moved some years ago. The indexes are now kept at
St Katherines House, just off the Strand. Just the indexes are kept
here. In any case, national records began in 1837.

2. In order to trace your family back any further, you will have to
consult the local parish records. These will be kept at the County
records office. They may also be able to conduct searches for you.
I am not sure of the location of the Linconshire records office,
but could find out if you wish me to. The costs of a search would
be of the order of 7 pounds per hour, (based on costs at Suffolk
CRO).
