13. School records. If your ancestors were children when they arrived
in America, their school records may be of interest. I recently
read somewhere about a man who visited the school that his grandparents
had attended. The school had required some proof of age before
enrolling new students. So the family had given the school the
birth records of this man's grandparents, which incidentally listed
the birthplace and the parents names... The school had no interest
in retaining this material, so the man very cheerfully took
his grandparent's records back home with him.
