In 1908, my great-grandfather's last remaining aunt appeared in the
probate court of Atascosa County, Texas, to apply for guardianship of
her minor children and one minor granddaughter. The aunt's name was
Sallie NEILL, widow of Benjamin F. NEILL, who died in Atascosa Co 1897.
The granddaughter was Norma WINTERS, age given variously in the same
file as six years, and eight years. Sallie stated that both Norma's
parents were dead at the time of her application. I believe Norma's
mother must have been Sallie's eldest daughter, Maude, but I can't find
any proof of that, nor can I discover what became of Norma. If anyone
can shed light on this family, or any NEILL desc in Atascosa County,
Texas, I would be most grateful.
