Subject: Unmarked gravesites

Hi everyone,
I work for a perpetual care cemetery so I feel that I may be able to give
you some general information on this subject.
Almost all cemeteries except maybe family cemeteries have rules about
placement of markers. All perpetual care cemeteries do and a lot of church
cemeteries (but not all) do also. Usually the rules aren't too restrictive tho.
Generally, you cannot place any type of marker without their approval of the
marker etc. They usually have guidelines as to what type of marker you can
use (flat marker or upright gravestone) etc. Also they will probably require
that you allow them to set it and will charge you to do it.
The best thing that someone who wants to put down a marker can do is to
check with whoever is over the cemetery. Usually they are more than happy to
tell you what rules that particular cemetery has. This is a good idea since
this can vary greatly depending upon the cemetery.
