Here is a roster of the NC Volunteer Regiment that
moved the Cherokee Indians to Oklahoma in 1838.

NORTH CAROLINA VOLUNTEER REGIMENT
1828 INDIAN REMOVAL
Abt 800 men.

This regiment was made of men from the north western
mountain section of North Carolina, quite a few of the men
stayed in the indian territory or either took up the indian
land in western North Carolina.
