Subject: need WWII dog tag info

I have my great uncle's dog tags from WWII.
I have learned that the 31008873 is his Military Service Number.
AB is his blood type, and Georgianna was his mother.
But, there are actually 2 slightly different numbers on each tag, and
each is made of a different material. The first looks like aluminum,
and the second looks like brass.

I am wondering what the T41-42 mean. Also,
because the tags are of different materials, does that mean they
were issued at different times?
Thank you,
Lisa
