Subject: Safe to bring Laptop to Library?

I'm wondering how safe is it to bring a Laptop to larger libraries? I am
going alone and I know in order to hunt around you can't keep an eye on the
laptop at all times.
The reason I have it is to be able to use it, but haven't been able to take it
for fear of losing it to theft. Does anyone know of a super duper anti-theft
device? I'd like something like they had for the cars that will talk in a
loud voice and say something like, "Back off! Do not touch me! In five
seconds an earsplitting alarm will sound!"

What are your opinions on the subject?
