Subject: Need help with Mage - Welsh (?) given name
Date: Wed, 9 Sep 1998 13:13:55 EDT
Fellow Rooters,
Does anyone know of the subject given name of "Mage"?
I recently was furnished a copy of the obit for my great-grandfather
who I previously knew only as Llewellyn (Lee) M. Francis. The obit
was published in the old Chicago Daily News on December 22, 1917.
It shows that the "M." stood for Mage.
He was born in Allentown (Lehigh County), PA on August 7, 1858, but
reportedly was of Welsh ancestry. Is the name Mage an actual given
name, or is it an abbreviated name?
If any one can help with this, please reply to me directly.
TIA,
(Mr.) Lee C. Francis
