Barbara asks, "What religion were Cromwell's followers?" Well... it's
not quite that simple. Mostly they were Puritans, including
Presbyterians, Baptists and Congregationalists. Cromwell was Calvinist
or had a Calvinist background. Since it was Parliament versus the
aristocracy, not a religious war per se, there were probably people of
all religions on both sides. Odds are though, if the Peggs were
fighting you can assume they weren't Quakers. Besides, the Quaker
religion was just starting about then.
