Subject: 1850 census - DOLPH
Date: Sun, 3 Jan 1999 11:14:09 -0500 (EST)
Where was Allen DOLPH, wife Elizabeth, son William H. (abt.
5) and daughter Mary Ellen (2) in 1850 and is there a
census record for them?? Allen and Elizabeth (Armstrong)
married in Schoolcraft, Kalamazoo Co, March 8, 1846
indicated by County Clerk records. From son William H.
Dolph's Civil War pension records(Company M, Michigan 7th
Cavalry) he was born Jan. 18, 1845.... no birth record
found at this time(might be 1847???). Sister Mary Ellen
DOLPH was born Dec. 3, 1848 - I have no indication of where
these or the third child to this marriage, Allen Dolph b.
1851 were born.
Allen DOLPH does not appear as a head of household in any
indexes that I have checked. They may have been living with
another member of their family or ???? I have checked
Kalamazoo Co(Her parents James & Elizabeth Armstrong were
there), Van Buren Co(her brother John Quincy Adams
Armstrong is there in Decatur), St. Joseph Co (her sister
Lynney Everett is there) Berrien Co (Allen Dolph ended up
there by 1860... with child bride as second wife and a
goodly amount of farmland). Elizabeth Armstrong DOLPH is
buried Dec. 11 1855 in Schoolcraft Cemetery, Kalamazoo Co,
Michigan - no death record found in Kalamazoo County?
Possibility is Porter Co, Indiana... Jackson Twp, Westville
area... Allen Dolph ends up here later..... and has family
connections to Harringtons and Dolphs in that area. There
were also some DOLPHs in Illinois about this time????
I would appreciate any suggestions, and assistance of those
who have access to any "all names" 1850 county indexes for
Michigan/Indiana/Illinois counties - to check them for
Allen & Elizabeth???
Thanks for any help,
Dorothy
