I've been transcribing a ship passenger list for the new Immigrant Ships
Transcribers Guild and thus have been looking at sites with information
about ships just as a sideline. I've found several good sites. Here are the
ones I've found to be good so far. The first one is one of the best. And of
course I assume that you all know about being able to find transcribed logs
of ships due to the work the guild is doing. Come April they'll be
accepting applications from more volunteers. One way you can help give back
to the world what we as genealogists take!
I realize you asked about ships in general. These sites contain information
about the ships sometimes and always logs. Of course, don't forget to also
check all the sites in Cyndislist.com. Some of these may/may not be there.
I didn't compare them.

http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Parthenon/5327/shiplists.htm Irish GenWeb
site with probably at least a hundred links to transcribed logs etc (not
just Irish)
And then don't forget http://istg.rootsweb.com (where you'll see the
results of the guild's labors as well as links to other sites containing
logs)
Janet Hubbard
imagine that!
