I enjoyed your note about the Clason witch trial.
"I am also descended from an accused witch, from Connecticut though. And her story is pretty famous --
she was found guilty by the "dunk test" but lucky to have friends sign a petition of her
innocence...very dangerous thing to do back then. This document is now on hand with the Bar association
- it's the very first "character witness" ever used in a trial!"
It's interesting to point out that Elizabeth's daughter and son-in-law, Francis and Elizabeth (Clason)
Dann, my ancestors, did not sign the petition.
