Subject: TROODAS MILITARY CEMETERY - CYPRUS

Hi,
Yesterday we drove up to the Troodos mountains, to take a look at the
military cemetery up there. One name that we took down with a view to
putting on the List is as follows:
REV. J. C. BLACK
BORN:ONTARIO, CANADA, 13 JUNE 1878
DIED: TROODOS 4TH JUNE 1951
He was a missionary in EGYPT for 25 years.
Now I don't know if he was on leave when he died or if he was on duty in
Cyprus. We just thought that if there are any relatives out there, the
grave is well kept and the area is quite beautiful.
He appears to be the only person from across the Atlantic in this
graveyard. I will hopefully be going to the other military graveyards of
the War Commissions (there are not only war dead here!!) and the graves
appear to go back to around 1881. If I am able to I will collect
information for those interested. PLEASE, any requests for WAYNES KEEP
can only be written replies, as it is in the buffer zone, photographs are
difficult to get.
Regards
Val London
