Many of the Civil War battles were given two names due to the names given at
the time in the north & the south. Battle sites were often named after the
nearest body of water in the north. Hence the battles of Bull Run,
Antietam(Creek), etc.
In the south most battle sites were named after the nearest town....
Manassas, Virginia, Sharpsburg, Maryland, etc. Of course this doesn't hold
true for most battle sites as the majority of these locations carry the same
name in both the north & the south.
