BUMPER SUNSHINE COAST FAMILY AND LOCAL HISTORY FAIR AND SEMINARS - NOOSA
HINTERLAND - 28TH AUGUST, 99


Family researchers, historians and those interested in heritage will be
heading for Noosa’s hinterland to country Cooroy where the first Sunshine
Coast Family and Local History Fair and Seminars will be held on Saturday
28th August in the Memorial Hall, Maple Street. Hosted by the Cooroy-Noosa
Genealogical and Historical Research Group the response for stalls and
speaker participation has exceeded expectations.

With Groups travelling from Brisbane, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Maryborough,
Gympie, Nambour and Caloundra to showcase their books and microfiche for
sale, Gould Books from South Australia, John Clements of Toowoomba and the
host Group’s promotion of Ian Nicholson’s new Log of Logs Vol 3 and AFTC
Magazine there will be plenty of choice of research material for sale.

The Australasian F. F. H. S from Western Australia and A. Q. F. H.S will be
represented, displays of heritage photos of old Noosa, Tewantin, Cooroy
and Pomona, stall holders include a Travel consultant, computers and the
net, a Scottish shop, and many genealogical experts who will also speak at
the seminars will be on hand to answer your questions including David
Larkin - Irish Research, Lady Mary Teviot - UK Research, Australia’s best
known Janet Reakes, Joy Murrin - transcription agent from NSW, the Qld State
Archives, Les Morland - German Research, Jim Robertson - Scots Research,
Dept of Families Youth and Community Care - Aboriginal, Torres Strait and
Chinese Research, Ailsa Corlett - New Zealand Research. Dr. Ruth Kerr will
speak on local history and Bill Kitson from Qld Lands, Mapping and Surveying
Museum will give advice on finding that special map of the family farm.
There will be something for every researcher, visit beautiful Noosa and come
out to Country Cooroy on Sat 28th August for a great genealogy happening and
some country hospitality. Stay over for the Fraser gathering dinner on
Saturday night. Entry to Fair $2.and a chance to win a lucky door prize.
