I found the recent thread regarding the WW-II Memorial to be of interest
and reviewed their web site.
The language regarding who was to be memorialized left me wondering what
was to be automatic and what might take proactive submission so I sent
the following query and received an answer quickly.
> >It is unclear to me as to who will be listed on the memorial.

Their response was as follows:
> We are having to rely on the friends, family and loved-ones of those who
> served to give us their names and information, because of the time frame
> of the war and all records being kept on paper, most of which have been
> destroyed in some form or another, we do not have an automatic database.
> We are trying to obtain all the names of those who served in uniform,
> were killed in action or supported the war effort on the home front.
> Thank you for your interest.
So, if you want to see your family member personally honored at the
memorial, you must submit his/her name.
